Northridge Senior, Avery Virok from Lagrange, Indiana, has recently been named one of the incoming Stamps Scholars at Purdue University. The Stamps Scholars Program was founded by E. Roe Stamps and his late wife Penny in 2006, with the purpose of enabling extraordinary educational experiences for extraordinary students. The program has grown to include 36 universities across the country, with approximately 360 students receiving the honor every year. At Purdue University, Stamps Scholars receive annual awards covering their full cost of attendance, with an additional $10,000 enrichment fund for activities such as study abroad, research internships, and academic conferences. The program seeks students who demonstrate academic merit, strong leadership potential, and exceptional character. We are very excited for Avery to have earned this incredible opportunity!
Avery has a high passion for STEM, with plans to major in Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. In her ideal future career, Avery would diligently work to aid communities through medical advancements and research. While at Northridge High School, Avery actively involved herself in a few clubs, including Science Olympiad, National Honor Society, Raider Tables, Junior Optimist Club, and National Art Honor Society. Avery wants to express gratitude to her parents, family and friends, and all the educators who invested in her to help her achieve this honor.

Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens, has just released the 2024 Key and Honorable Mention awards. Nine students earned honors this year, several earning more than one distinction. Students’ entries are blindly adjudicated by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts, with jurors looking for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, technical skill, and the emergence of personal voice or vision. Please congratulate these students on their accomplishments:

Where are you now? Welcome to the Northridge Alumni Career Connections Project! We hope to connect with as many Northridge grads as possible and learn what you are doing and what path you took to get there! You are a valuable resource to current Northridge students trying to decide on their next steps after graduation. Whether you graduated from Northridge last year or 50+ years ago, we want to know where life has taken you. Whether you have continued to make your home in Middlebury, remained a Hoosier, or ventured further away, we want to hear from you. What career path have you taken? What is your current job? Are you willing to talk with a current Northridge student interested in your field? Would you be willing to be a guest speaker (in person or virtually)? We are excited to create a resource that gives students a network of NHS grads and their career paths as they decide what direction they will take in their own life. Thank you in advance for helping out your fellow Raiders!
