York Elementary School

Upcoming Events at York: We will be collecting non-perishable food items for our local food pantries beginning February 20th and ending the 23rd. Please feel free to bring in donations to the Jim Gill family event on the 22nd! Secondly, York will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, March 26th. Mark your calendars for that date, more information will be coming home soon.

Our lost and found is overrun with hats! If you see a hat in the photo (posted on website and Facebook ) that belongs to your child, please send them to the office to pick it up. I will start to find new homes for those left behind starting next week.

Next week ( Feb 5th - 9th), we will be celebrating career week with our students. Students will be engaged with many career exploration activities and supplemental lessons throughout the week. In addition, this week will be a spirit week. See the images for more information. We are looking forward to next week!

York would like to share some exciting news! We now have our very own STEAM lab. This lab will allow our students to dive into the world of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics more than ever before. Last week our first grade students had a blast exploring with Ozobots! Look at all those smiles! We are excited to see all the fun ways our teachers use this space!

We have begun collecting initial information for our incoming kindergarten class for the 24-25 school year. Below is a link that will direct you to a digital document to complete. We will use this information to contact you at a later date regarding completing registration forms as well as our Kindergarten round-up in April. Good afternoon everyone! With tomorrow (1/16/24) being an E-Learning Day, assignments will be posted by 9:00 am. We realize Chromebooks didn't go home, so they will be sent home on Wednesday. These assignments are due Monday (1/22/24) at midnight. Stay safe!

Good afternoon staff, With the announcement of tomorrow (1/16/24) being an E-Learning day, please have lessons posted by 9:00 am. Remember, Schoology should be the "jump off" page. The due date for this will be Monday (1/22). There should be 6 "office hours" with at least 3 of them being in the evening! Stay warm!

Welcome back tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9th! Looking forward to seeing those smiling faces again. Looks like there could also be some winter weather coming our way. Make sure your student is prepared with winter gear for playing outside during recess. If there happens to be a two hour delay due to weather conditions, students can arrive beginning at 9:20, classes will start at 9:40. Check all your news stations as well as phone calls from the school to stay up to date.

York Elementary would like to wish all of our staff, students, and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing students back on Tuesday, January 9th.

Many hats, coats, and gloves have been added to our lost and found over the last few weeks. Please encourage your child to take a look at the items hung up in the cafeteria if they have lost something recently. We will wash and donate unclaimed items shortly after we return from break. Thank you!

Student Council has chosen tomorrow, Thursday, November 30th to be a spirit day here at York. This day will be "Northridge Day". We are asking staff/students to dress up in their Northridge gear or green and yellow. Go Raiders!
