Posted Date: 06/17/26 (06:14 AM)

Senior Evelyn Dye was chosen as 1 of 50 participants in a pool of over 200 applicants to participate in the Molecular Medicine in Action symposium for Pediatric Research in Indianapolis. The symposium took place on March 1st and 2nd and provided learning experiences that allowed participants to delve further into the research realm of the medical field.
Participants experienced learning about goals and methodologies applied when investigating the molecular, cellular, and genetic mechanisms that contribute to diseases. Evelyn said, “This experience was amazing. It was wonderful to be able to speak to people in the profession I want to go into. Having this up-close experience solidified my passion for research and all the knowledge that can come from it. I was able to work in an actual lab with scientists and do everything from making a karyotype to removing peripheral nerves from a rat to seeing if the rat had a tumor. I learned so much over the course of two days, and I am forever grateful for this experience.”
Evelyn plans to attend Michigan State University and study pre-Health and Human Biology.
Teacher Nancy Hannah nominated Evelyn for this recognition and shared how proud she is of Evelyn as a student, researcher, and wonderful young lady.
Evelyn- we are so proud of you!
